I’m on the other side of school visits and finally had the time to honour frequent requests I get for mentoring and editorial inputs on picture book texts by emerging writers and teachers in schools, especially those teaching Reception and Y1.
The Picture Book Circle is now accepting registrations. It will be a small group of 6 people only. Over the course of 6 weeks, the participants learn to craft, edit and analyse picture books written by themselves and the group. Every session will include a short tutorial followed by Chitra’s detailed feedback and group feedback. There will be plenty of opportunities for Q&A in each session.
The goal is to have completed and reviewed at least two picture book texts in six weeks - with clear action plan for what happens after the circle is completed.
The circle is completely virtual and can be attended from anywhere, but run from the UK.
It is completely suitable for beginners who have never written a picture book story before and will be very useful for those who have had a go, but need help and someone to cast their eyes on their text. If you are a fiction writer who wants to write picture books, then you can attend too.
You can register for the first circle from here, which starts on 14th April 2025. I have a few people who have already expressed interest, so do register quickly if you want to join.
